P.A.S.S. - Positive Alternative to School Suspension Program
As an alternative to home suspension this program is offered to youth in grades 4 through 12. The P.A.S.S. program is focussed on developing positive social and cognitive skills while ensuring that the student maintains academic progress.
The P.A.S.S. program can be utilized School days in Sarnia from 9am -12:30pm as well as in Chatham from 9am -1:30pm. Referrals for P.A.S.S. are made by school administration.
Student Requirements: Students bring materials and assignments from school and participate in skills training recommended by program staff.
School Requirements: School principals gain written consent from the student’s parent / caregiver. Schools will also provide sufficient academic materials to ensure each student progresses at grade level.
Parent / Caregiver Requirements: Parents/Caregivers sign a consent form and arrange transportation for their child to attend the program. Parents provide input into any assessment procedures and complete a program evaluation.
The Ministry of Community Safety and Corrections has indicated the P.A.S.S. Program as aligning with the foundational principals of community safety and well being.
